Brand Watch - Merc AW16

Did you see the video below?

Merc have started to present their clothing with a feature they call "The Modern Man." The first man is British Olympic Gold Winning medalist and now professional Boxer, Luke Campbell.

You may not be into boxing or wearing hooded tops, but that’s fine, As ever at ModWear we try to select and stock (what we think are) the best bits of each collection and once again Merc have delivered.

The pick of the bunch for us is the Merc Rainham knitted polo. We liked it that much that we decided to stock both colour ways.  In a recent poll on Twitter, 55% of voters proffered the wine variation above the navy.  Which do your prefer?  I want them both.

Something new from Merc this season and something they haven't produced for a few years, Jeans.  The Merc Ashville is a slim / straight leg jean with a dark denim wash.  We have been looking to stock a smart Jean after getting a bit of feedback about our previous selections being a bit skinny fitting.  The Merc Ashville is finished with their Signature Crown emblem branding on the outside and tartan detailing within.

We may fight it but winter is approaching. In late 2015 early 2016 we didn't really have that much cold weather and our bigger / warmer coats didn't get much of an outing.  This year we have tried to stock a few all year round jackets. These consist of a Monkey, a Mac and a Harrington.  The Navy Monkey comes with a water resistant nylon to cope with any wet weather (It rains a lot up in Manchester). Classic rib trims in complimentary colours highlight the collar and cuffs, while the iconic Merc crown sits proudly at the chest.  Next the Mac, Merc's Lidgard, is a thing of beauty. Minimal in its look with clean lines and subtle corduroy trims, Its beyond handsome. The new colourway for the Merc Harrington this year is Steel Blue (Not to be confused with Blue Steel) and we love it. We now stock four Merc Harrington colourways but this one really is a mince pie catcher.

In the shirting section we have gone for long sleeves and tried to cover all basis, We have a micro Check (Merc Syndale), a gingham (Japster) and a bold as you like Paisley (Merc Kean)

Lastly we finish the collection with a polka-dot polo Barcroft polo which sold out in the first week of it being on the site (we have since re-stocked), some really nice knits and don't overlook the Merc Corby Jumper with its Cashmere blend...beauty in simplicity. Follow the link below to see these and more of our new arrivals.
